William Wilberforce 1779 Book Condensed

William Wilberforce was famous as an anti-slavery campaigner in England. See a depiction of this is the blockbuster film "Amazing Grace"

His brilliant book published in 1779 is difficult for modern readers because of its old fashioned language and long-winded way of saying things - for example just take its original title:

"A Practical View of the Prevailing Religious System of Professed Christians, in the Middle and Higher Classes in this Country, Contrasted with Real Christianity"

Yet what he said is profound and embarrassingly relevant to us today! So I am attempting to blog one section each week condensed and in modern English. Sometimes I include a short cut and paste because his message is so powerful. For his Bible quotes I have used the popular NIV translation.
For chapter headings I have retained Wilberforce's original ones.
